Buddy Parking is Back
Effective Monday, February 6, 2023
How It Works:
· Effective Monday, February 6, 2023, control of the buddy parking system will transition back to the Law School, with oversight provided by our security company, Ohio Support Services.
· In order for Buddy Parking to be efficient and effective, it takes the cooperation, patience and understanding of all involved.
· Buddy Parking is not a valet service.
· All spaces along the west side of parking lot (adjacent to the building) are part of the buddy parking system.
· Students parking vehicles in the participating spaces MUST move forward directly into the front space adjacent to the building and may not “hold” spaces for friends.
· Students using the rear parking space (blocking in the vehicle in front) are required to leave their vehicle key with the guard on duty in the guard hut in lot 2.
· Vehicles parking in the rear parking space may be moved by the security team to allow vehicles in front spots to leave the parking lot.
· Buddy Parking repeat violators may be subject to ticketing, towing at violators expense, or referral for Student Code of Conduct violations.
· As we transition to the Buddy Parking , there will be a grace period while all participants become accustomed to the new manner of operating.
Finally, as I have indicated in prior communications, repeated offenses related to parking in unauthorized locations and/or in an unauthorized manner may subject the student to possible sanctions pursuant to Capital University’s Code of Student Conduct which explicitly provides: “Any student or student organization found to have committed or attempted to engage in the following misconduct is subject to intervention and conduct action: . . . . . . 24. Violation of any University policy, rule, or regulation (including residential and housing policies) which are published in hard copy or available electronically on the university website.” https://www.capital.edu/uploadedfiles/content/audience_navigation/current_student/studenthandbook20969.pdf.
I have instructed our Assistant Dean of Student Affairs Alicia Gilbert that repeat parking offenders may be referred to her for Student Code of Conduct violations.
Thank you.
All my best,
